Gadjo Dilo (1997)
One of the best works of Tony Gatlif. "Gadjo Dilo" is a simple story about a young French man from Paris, who travels to Romania in search of a Gypsy singer and discovers more about the place and people. This film is a very passionate work of Tony Gatlf. The music plays a key role in this film too. Romain Duris as 'Stephane' and Rona Hartner as 'Sabina' has given their best performances and the cinematography is extremely beautiful. Tony Gatlif's music composing is great and touching. There are beautiful moments in this film one can hold to it, specially the true romance between the main characters. Its a great film nobody should miss it.
Exils (2004)
This film is a homecoming for Tony Gatlif after 43 years. "Exils" is about an adventurous journey by two young Bohemians to Algeria. Sometimes a road movie. The music plays an important role again in this movie. Tony Gatlif as a composer again strikes here with great numbers and the soundtrack of this film is what one will look for most after watching the film. Cinematography is amazing. Tony Gatlif's special creations about Gypsies, and also in a unique way is very much impressive. His particular attention to visuals is also remarkable in all of his movies.
