Lars Von Trier - Breaking the waves
Dancer in the Dark (2000)
Lars Von Trier is a well known Danish film maker who tells stories very explicitly. He is an outstanding screenwriter who has different approaches for his films each time which moves the audience deeply.
"Dancer in the Dark" tells the story of an immigrant, single mother, who is passionate about music and dance, works in a factory in rural America to save money for her son's operation. Extraordinary acting performance of Bjork, and the beautiful music makes this movie a real treat. Lars has done an incredible script writing for this movie. One can never forget the character "Selma Jezkova" after watching this movie.
Breaking the waves (1996)
"Breaking the Waves" is a story about love, regret, guilt, madness and religion. Emily Watson gives her extraordinary performance for this film. The film touches topics such as death, spirituality, and relationships. Yet another powerful script writing from Lars Von Trier. Cinematography is elegant and specially the hand-held camera work is simply beautiful.
Europa (1991)
"Europa" is a story about a man who comes to work in post war Germany. Lars uses different techniques in this movie. As he always go for what he thinks, this movie is no different, it is a special treat for the cinema lovers. Cinematography of this movie is also excellent. This film is very unique and beautiful cinematic experience.
